January 2
SDFA is again offering the bus trip to Pasadena for viewing the Rose Parade Floats. The trip is January 2, 2011. Reservations are being taken now - there are only 55 seats available. Stroll among the parked floats from the Pasadena Rose Parade. There will be excellent photo opportunities and a knowledgeable person at each float to answer any questions. Food, drinks and restrooms are available on the grounds.

When & Where: 8:00 am – San Diego – Old Town Transportation Center parking lot 8:30 am – Carlsbad/Encinitas – La Costa Park & Ride, 710 La Costa Avenue off I-5
Cost: Member of SDFA and Mission Hills Garden Club - $45
Non-members and guests - $65
A SEAT IS RESERVED WHEN PAYMENT CHECK IS RECEIVED
A telephone call does not reserve a seat

Member Meeting
Best of the Best: Succulent Container Gardens well known author, Debra Lee Baldwin, will be speaking to members and the public at its monthly meeting in January. She will be discussing her beautiful new book, Succulent Container Gardens, which has just been tagged as one of the ten best garden books of 2010 in several publishing and distribution polls. No stranger to the writing world, she has authored and provided the photographs for several other volumes and articles on gardening with succulents. Her efforts have probably done more to popularize this landscape tool than any one other individual. Books will be available for purchase and she will remain to sign them.

At 4070 Jackdaw St , Mission Hills. Street or parking lot parking at United Church of Christ, Refreshments served, Members free; Guests and public without passes- $10. No reservations necessary (Meredith French, Program Chair)

Garden of Lights at San Diego Botanic Garden
Evenings in December, the San Diego Botanic Garden is transformed into a dazzling winter wonderland with over 100,000 sparkling lights illuminating the Garden for a magical holiday experience. Leave the hustle and bustle of the malls behind and enjoy a relaxing evening strolling through the lighted Garden. Adding to the sparkle is the "Poinsettia Garden," festively decorated with many varieties of poinsettias.
Live music of all varieties fills the air nightly from 6 - 8 pm. For one sizzling evening (December 18), the rhythm, costumes and dance of Mexico come to the Garden with lively performances by Mariachi Imperial de San Diego and Ballet Folklórico Herencia Mexicana. Schedule on www.SDBGarden.org

Balboa Park December Nights 2010
Annual "Festival of Trees" theme is "Anything Goes" - beautiful Christmas trees feature intricate and extravagant decorations.
As it has for 38 years, SDFA will once again delight visitors by filling the room with decorated Christmas trees and unique floral designs.
Fresh exotic protea blooms and tasty gingerbread cookies for sale.
The delightful gingerbread cookies are also available by the box when pre-ordered on line from www.sdfloral.org. They are a box of 288 cookies packaged in trays of two dozen for $50.
